It depends on the entire outfit. I usually just go by what I like, not by what’s currently popular. But, say, for example, I’ve flip flops with a zebra pattern on the thong part and a matching zebra pattern purse. I probably wouldn't go any further with a matching belt.

I don't like to be all one color or two colors. If the match looks decent and coordinated, wear it. If not, well, ditch the look. It's fun to mix and match, just don't get too crazy.

You can have all black or brown accessories, but make sure that they aren't all made from the same thing (like all leather) and make sure that they aren't the exact same shade.

But matching colors exactly is completely OUT of fashion.

I saw someone wearing purple shoes, a purple handbag, and a large purple belt in Salamanca, Spain like a week ago. The people there are very fashionable, but it did look a little ridiculous. I would recommend just match 2 out of the 3 'cause it was kind of too much.
